How do I download a big video on my phone?
Use Wi-Fi and your phone’s main browser; send the 4K file to a computer if you can.
Download on Wi-Fi in your phone's main browser, start with the clip, and fetch the big 4K file on a computer if you can.
Step by step
- Connect to Wi-Fi. A 4K video can be 1 GB or more. The page reminds you: 'The 4K file is large: best downloaded on Wi‑Fi or a computer.'
- Open lyrik in your phone's main browser, such as Safari or Chrome. Not inside Instagram, TikTok or another app.
- Open your song and go to the Download step.
- Tap Download next to the 9:16 clip first. It's the file you'll post from your phone, and it's much smaller.
- Keep the screen on and stay on the page until the download finishes.
- For the 16:9 video, open the same song on a computer, sign in with the same email, and download it there.
Why your phone's main browser
Apps like Instagram and TikTok open links in their own small browser. Downloads often fail there, or the file is hard to find afterwards. If lyrik opened inside an app, use its menu to open the page in your browser.
Good to know
- Downloading again is free, so if a download fails, just tap Download again.
- The YouTube copy pack is a .txt file. It's easier to open and copy from on a computer. On a phone, open it in your files app.
- Where files go. On an iPhone, look in the Files app under Downloads. On Android, look in your Downloads folder or the Files app.
- HD is smaller. If you'll only ever watch and post from your phone, HD may be all you need. See Should I get HD or 4K?
If something goes wrong
- The download stops or never finishes. Switch to Wi-Fi, keep the screen on, and tap Download again.
- 'This link has expired.' Download links are private and short-lived. Go back to your song and tap Download again for a fresh link.
- Nothing happens when I tap Download. You may be in an app's own browser. Open the page in Safari or Chrome.
- My phone says it's out of space. Download the clip only on your phone, and the 16:9 video on a computer.
