What happens while my track is being analysed?
What the progress screen shows, how long it takes, and hearing your isolated vocal.
lyrik lifts your vocal off the beat, finds the beats and lines up every word of your lyrics, which usually takes 2 to 3 minutes.
You can leave the page while it works. It keeps going.
What you see
- One big message that changes as lyrik moves through the steps, such as 'Finding your vocal…', 'Lifting your voice off the beat…', 'Counting the beats…', 'Lining up every word…', 'Spotting the chorus…' and 'Picking colours from your cover…'.
- A waveform meter with a percentage. The percentage is an estimate based on how long each step usually takes. It only moves forward, and it can sit in the high 90s for a little while before it finishes.
- The time so far, with a reminder: for example '0:42 Usually 2 to 3 minutes. You can leave this page, it keeps going.'
- 'Copy a link to this project'. Tap it to copy a link back to this song. It changes to 'Link copied'.
Hear your vocal on its own
This is one of the nicest moments in lyrik, and easy to miss.
- Look for the card 'Your vocal, on its own'. At first it says 'Ready to hear in a moment.'
- When lyrik has separated your voice, the card changes to 'We found your vocal' and 'Hear it isolated from the beat.'
- Tap the play button. You hear just your voice, without the music. The time shows as, for example, 0:12 / 3:05.
- While it plays, the meter pumps along with your voice.
The analysis carries on while you listen.
What lyrik is working out
- Your vocal, separated from the music.
- Your words, each one lined up with the moment you sing it.
- The beats and bars, including the time signature. Songs with 2 to 12 beats in a bar are fine, so waltzes in 3 work too.
- The parts of the song, such as verses, choruses and drops.
- Your cover's colours, and a cut-out of the person on it if there is one.
- Which fonts can set your lyrics, so no style shows a missing letter.
When it's done
The screen says 'Your track is ready.' and how long it took, for example 'Analysed in 2:31'. Press Check the sync. See How do I check my lyrics are in time?
Good to know
- If you leave during analysis. We can email you 'Your song is synced' while you’re away. You can also return with the link you copied, or open the song from Your videos at the top of the page. See Where are my videos?
- Your project link is private. Only you can open it, when you’re signed in. It’s still best to keep it to yourself. See Who can open my project link?
- Seen this track before? If you’ve synced the very same file before, you may see 'We’ve heard this track before, so this is quicker.'
- Less movement. If your device is set to reduce motion, the meter doesn't pump.
- Waiting and listening cost nothing. The sync's 10 credits (or one free sync) were used when it started.
If something goes wrong
- 'That didn’t work.' The analysis stopped. Press Try again: it picks up where it left off, and the credits for the failed try come back. See My analysis failed. What should I do?
- The meter sits at 97 to 99%. It's an estimate, and the last step can take a little longer. Give it a few more minutes. See The analysis is stuck at 99% or on 'Getting started…'
- 'Getting started…' doesn't change. See the same article.
- 'This project is paused.' Something about the project needs a person to look at it. Contact us and we’ll sort it out.
- 'Copy a link to this project' doesn't change to 'Link copied'. Your browser blocked copying. Copy the address from your browser's address bar instead.
Hidden extras
- The isolated vocal card, above.
- You can close the page and come back. The analysis runs on our side, not in your browser.
