How do I auto-detect lyrics from my track?

Find words in your vocal, then check, edit or delete them in the usual Sync screen.

Choose Auto-detect lyrics if you have the recording but not the words written out. We find words in the vocal and sync them, then you check them in the usual Sync screen.

How to start

  1. Choose Try for free, sign in and choose your audio file.
  2. Select Auto-detect, with the small sparkle, beside Paste lyrics. Leave the language on Auto, or choose it if you know it.
  3. Check the sync cost below the button, then press Auto-detect lyrics.
  4. Keep the page open until the upload finishes. After that, the work continues in the background and you can return through Your videos.
  5. When it is ready, listen through Sync and check the words before choosing Looks right.

You do not need a separate vocal file. Detection separates the vocal from the recording you upload. It adds processing time before the usual sync; the progress screen shows which part is running.

How do I correct a word?

In Listen and fix, select the word, choose Edit word, type the correction and press Save. Choose Delete to remove an unwanted word, or use the arrows to move its timing. Undo restores a change. Edits save automatically; wait for Saved before closing the page.

The word controls appear when you select a word. For a whole line, open More tools and choose Edit. Changing the number of words in a line redistributes its timing, so listen again afterwards. See Fix a line’s words or timing.

How accurate is detection?

Treat the detected text as a starting point. Singing, accents, effects, overlapping voices and quiet phrases can all cause mistakes. Check names, repeated choruses, ad-libs and the last sung line. Timing confidence does not tell you whether a word is spelled or heard correctly.

If your song opens straight in the studio, a short note the first time gives a rough guide to how many of the words we think we got right, from how sure we are of each line. A line we are sure of can still have a misheard word, so choose Check the words to go through them.

We filter likely invented words at the end of the recording. A very quiet ending can still need correction. If a verse is missing or the result needs substantial rewriting, starting again with Paste lyrics is usually easier. You can change words in existing lines, but cannot insert a whole new verse in Sync.

Does detection cost extra?

Detection has no separate credit charge. Once words are found, normal syncing starts automatically and uses the sync cost shown before upload: 10 credits, or one of your free syncs. Correcting words and timing is free. If no words are found or detection fails, syncing does not start and no sync credit is used for that attempt.

What if it cannot find my lyrics?

Use Try again if offered, or Paste lyrics instead to continue in the same project. Detection allows up to two attempts per project and has daily limits. There is no need to upload the same file again just to paste a fallback.

If you already have accurate lyrics, choose Paste lyrics from the start. Include every sung repeat and use one sung line per line. See How should I paste my lyrics?.
