How do I watch the whole song instead of just the clip?
Switch the preview between your clip and the whole song, and use the song timeline.
Switch the preview from Your clip to Whole song, or click the song timeline outside your clip, and the preview plays your whole song.
The preview loops your clip by default, so you can compare styles quickly. Switching only changes what plays: your style doesn't reload.
On a computer
- In the bar along the bottom, find Play.
- Press Whole song. With a mouse, it says 'Play the whole song'.
- To go back, press Your clip ('Play your clip again and again (move it on the timeline)').
Or press P to switch between them.
On a tablet or small window
- In the side panel, find Preview.
- Tap Whole song. Tap Your clip to go back.
On a phone
There's no Whole song button on phones yet. Use the timeline instead:
- Tap the Clip tab.
- Tap the timeline anywhere outside the clip's bracket. The whole song plays from there.
- To loop your clip again, tap the clip's name under the bracket.
Using the song timeline
The timeline shows your whole song as one band:
- Named parts: Intro, Verse, Build, Chorus, After, Bridge, Breakdown, Drop, Instrumental and Outro. Build is the pre-chorus and After is the post-chorus.
- A faint waveform of your song.
- Your clip's bracket.
- The playhead, showing where you are.
What you can do:
- Click a point to play from there. Inside your clip, it keeps looping. Outside it, the whole song plays.
- Drag along the timeline to scrub through the song.
- Hover with a mouse to see the time at that point.
On a computer, it sits under the preview: in full where there's room, as one slim row where there's less, and standing upright beside a 9:16 preview on a wide screen. On a phone or tablet, it's inside the clip panel.
Good to know
- The whole song is free to watch, in every style, as often as you like.
- In 16:9, the whole song is what you'll download as your full video.
- In 9:16, the whole song is a preview only. The 9:16 download is just your clip. See What’s the difference between 16:9 and 9:16?
- The control has two names: Play on a computer and Preview on a tablet. They do the same thing.
If something goes wrong
- The preview keeps jumping back to the chorus. It's looping your clip. Choose Whole song, or click the timeline outside the bracket.
- You can't find Whole song on your phone. Use the timeline in the Clip tab, as above.
- Playback stutters on a long song. See The preview is slow or choppy
Hidden extras
On a computer, with the timeline selected:
- ← and → jump 5 seconds.
- Shift+← and Shift+→ jump 15 seconds.
- Home and End go to the start and end of the song.
On a computer, Present shows the preview on the whole screen.
