How do I show a duet or a featured singer?
Name the singer in the section tag so styles can give the second voice its own side or colour.
Name the singer inside the section tag, like '[Verse 2: Ben]', and styles give the second voice its own side or colour.
How to mark who sings
- Add the singer’s name after a colon in the section tag.
- The first name you use is the lead. The second name is the duet side.
- For a part you sing together, name both.
[Verse 1: Ana]
I left the window open
So the night could find its way
[Verse 2: Ben]
I heard you through the hallway
Singing half the words again
[Chorus: Ana & Ben]
Stay till the morning
Stay till the morning
Good to know
- A tag that names both singers, like '[Chorus: Ana & Ben]' or '[Chorus: Ana, Ben]', is shared and counts as the lead side.
- An empty '[Chorus]' that repeats an earlier chorus keeps that chorus’s singer.
- A name at the start of a line, like 'Ana: hello', stays in the lyrics and is shown as sung text. Use the tag instead.
- There is no singer control on the Sync screen, so tag your singers before you upload. To change them later, start a new video with the same file and check its reuse eligibility.
How styles use it
- Many styles put the second voice on the other side, or in another colour.
- In the Texts style, the second voice sends from the reply side of the chat. In 16:9, Phones (16:9) on Our pick shows two phones, one for each singer, once the second singer has at least four lines. Choose Two to always show both.
- Folio prints the singer’s name in small capitals above the line.
If something goes wrong
- The singer’s name shows in my video. It was written at the start of a line. Start a new video with the same file and move the name into the section tag. See Starting another project with the same audio
- Both voices look the same. Check that each section has a name after the colon, and that you used two different names.
