Using Texts in lyrik.fm
Your lyrics as a phone chat: bubbles, typing dots, reactions and read receipts. Made for 9:16.
Pick Texts on the Style step: your lyrics play out as a chat on a phone, with message bubbles, typing dots, reactions and read receipts, timed to your voice.
What it looks like
- Each phrase arrives as a message bubble, after a moment of typing dots.
- Your main vocal sends. Ad-libs and a duet partner reply from the other side.
- Fast lines type into their bubble as you sing, and held words make the bubble gently swell.
- Reactions land on your hooks.
- Each chorus opens with a big, slammed bubble.
- Full-screen effects on the biggest moments, such as confetti, balloons or hearts. There are never more than three in a song.
- A repeated chorus line quotes its first appearance, like a reply in a real chat.
- Time stamps and 'Read' fill the gaps between lines.
- Your cover is the wallpaper (and the avatar in the DM, Inbox and Android looks), and the chat is named after you.
- No made-up words. On a song with one voice, the replies are emoji only. Texts never invents lyrics.
Best for
- Pop, R&B, rap, indie and bedroom pop.
- Almost any tempo, including fast verses: it types every bar into its bubble.
- Clips for Reels, TikTok and Shorts. 9:16 is the shape it was made for.
- Any cover.
How to make it
- On the Style step ('Pick a style.'), find Texts. On a phone, tap the Style tab first.
- Tap or click the card to see your clip (your first chorus, to start with) as a chat.
- Switch the preview to 9:16 Shorts to see it on a full phone screen.
- Choose a colour under Colour · from your cover and a Lyric size.
- Open More ways to tweak it (the More tab on a phone) to choose the Chat look, Mode, Typing, Effects and the name in Who’s texting.
- Press Shuffle for new reactions and effects. Undo goes back.
- Press Download · from £4.99$5.99€5.99CA$8.99A$8.99, or choose just the clip on the Download step.

Font availability depends on your lyrics. Colour choices can depend on the cover, and the Ad-libs row needs marked ad-libs.
Messages stack up like a real chat, so the panel says 'Texts chooses where the lyrics sit for you.'
These chat looks are our own designs. They aren't made by, or connected to, any messaging app.
Tips for great results
- Make it a conversation. Mark a second singer in your lyrics' tags, such as [Verse 2: Ben], and their lines reply from the other side. In 16:9, Our pick under Phones (16:9) then shows two phones. See How do I show a duet or a featured singer?
- Mark your ad-libs in round brackets, such as (nah), and they come back as replies. See How do I mark ad-libs and backing vocals?
- Set the chat name. Type a name in Who’s texting, or leave it empty to use your artist name.
- Pick a hook for your clip. A 15 or 30 second clip of the chorus suits a chat. See How do I choose which part of my song becomes the clip?
16:9 and 9:16
- 9:16 is Texts' home. The phone screen is the whole frame: the status bar and chat header across the top, the message box and keyboard across the bottom, with keys pressing as it types. The lyrics stay in the middle, and the phone's own top and bottom fill the parts TikTok, Reels and Shorts cover with their buttons.
- 16:9 shows a plain phone (or two) over your blurred cover. Here the text is already large, so Lyric size changes little with the DM and Inbox looks.
Languages
- The font sets accented letters and Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo and Akan marks.
- Emoji you type in your lyrics aren't drawn as text. The reactions and effects are drawn by the style.
Good to know
- The keyboard is always up in 9:16. There's no option to hide it yet.
- Colour, size, capitals, ad-libs and energy carry across if you switch style. Texts remembers its own chat look, rows and name.
- Shuffle gives every style a new take, not just Texts.
- Previewing is free. Your first clip is free too, if your account got the welcome offer. Other downloads use credits. A clip on its own is £1.49$1.79€1.79CA$2.69A$2.69.
If something goes wrong
- The other side of the chat only sends emoji. Your song has one voice, so Texts doesn't invent replies. Add a second singer with a tag, or mark ad-libs, before you upload.
- The name at the top is wrong. Type the name you want in Who’s texting, then press Enter or tap outside the box to save it.
- Size barely changes in 16:9. That's expected with DM and Inbox. Try Blue bubbles or Green chat, or check 9:16.
- Too many effects. Set Effects to Off.
Hidden extras
- Gaps in your song show time stamps and 'Read', so instrumental breaks still feel like a chat.
- On a computer, press F to switch between 16:9 and 9:16, and S for new reactions.
