Which lyric video styles can I choose?

Every style at a glance, grouped by feel, most taking their colours from your cover.

You can preview your own song in every style, free, before you choose.

How to try the styles

  1. Finish checking your sync and press Looks right. The Style step opens with 'Pick a style.'
  2. The three styles that suit your song best sit at the top under 'Picked for your song', each with a short reason. See Why does lyrik suggest these three styles?
  3. Tap or click any style's card. The preview switches to your song in that style, playing your clip (your first chorus, until you move it).
  4. On a phone, tap the Style tab to open the list. It closes when you pick a style, so you can watch. Tap Style again to try another.
  5. Make it yours with Font, Colour · from your cover and Lyric size, and the extra options under More ways to tweak it (the More tab on a phone).
  6. When you're happy, press Download · from £4.99$5.99€5.99CA$8.99A$8.99.

What every style has in common

  • Your colours. Most styles take their colours from your cover art (Flicker stays black and white). You can change them with the Colour row.
  • Both shapes. Every style lays out its own 16:9 video for YouTube and its own 9:16 clip for Shorts, Reels and TikTok.
  • It moves with your voice. Words land as you sing each syllable, held notes stretch, choruses hit harder, and the beat moves the camera. Each style does this in its own way.
  • Your song on every card. Each card shows a still of your own song in that style, in your colours.
  • Free to preview. The preview runs live in your browser and uses the same style engine as the download, though playback may be a little less smooth on a slower device. The finished download has no 'PREVIEW' watermark. Paid downloads have no watermark at all; a free clip has a small Made with lyrik.fm credit.

The styles

They're listed here in the order you'll find them. On a computer, the styles after your three picks are grouped by feel. A feel with only one style left goes under Other styles.

Style What it looks like Feel Often suits
Xerox Torn paper strips of lyrics over a photocopied, cut-up collage of your cover Handmade Rap, grime, punk and rock with fast verses
Xerox Poster Every phrase becomes a photocopied flyer, set as big as it will go Bold Pop, rap, rock and dance hooks
Deck One to three huge words, dead centre, with a new type effect on every screen Bold Dance, pop and rap hooks, songs with drops
Broadside Every line screen-printed as a gig poster, filling the frame Bold Rock, indie, punk and big anthems
Widescreen A film title sequence over your cover, which moves gently in depth Cinematic Pop, R&B, ballads and slower songs
Postscript A quiet serif stanza over a soft-focus picture, with a few words written by hand Cinematic Ballads, R&B, folk and gospel
Marker Big hand-lettered words written stroke by stroke on paper or an old TV screen Handmade Pop anthems and big choruses
Folio Your song as a magazine feature, with your cover in a picture window Minimal Indie, folk and singer-songwriter
Now Playing A clean scrolling lyrics screen washed in your cover's colours Minimal Pop, R&B and afrobeats: the safe, simple choice
Texts Your lyrics as a phone chat, with bubbles, typing dots and reactions Minimal Pop, R&B and rap clips for socials
Tapestry The whole song builds into one picture as it's sung Cinematic Pop, R&B, indie and ballads
Departure Your lyrics on a glowing destination sign, seen from a night train Retro Electronic, synth-pop and indie
Textmode Your cover drawn in text characters, your lyrics as giant pixel words Retro Hip-hop, electronic and hyperpop
Behind Huge words slide in behind you on your cover, like a magazine cover Bold Pop, rap and R&B, with a person on the cover
Ransom Every word cut from magazine letters and slapped down as you sing Handmade Playful pop, pop-punk and hyperpop
Diary Your lyrics handwritten into a notebook, with your cover taped in Handmade Confessional pop, indie and folk
Flicker Black-and-white lettering written on one phrase at a time, with hard cuts and white flashes on the beat Handmade Rap, rock, dance and darker pop
Workshop Christmas: every line cut, stamped, foiled, stitched or knitted by hand on a craft table Handmade Christmas songs: pop, ballads and folk

The styles by feel

  • Bold: Xerox Poster, Deck, Broadside, Behind.
  • Handmade: Xerox, Marker, Ransom, Diary, Flicker, Workshop.
  • Cinematic: Widescreen, Postscript, Tapestry.
  • Retro: Departure, Textmode.
  • Minimal: Folio, Now Playing, Texts.

The "often suits" column is a starting point, not a rule. Any style works with any song, so try the ones you like the look of.

Good to know

  • Some choices follow you between styles. Your colour, lyric size, capitals, ad-libs and energy carry across when you switch. Each style remembers its own font, background, where the lyrics sit and its extra options.
  • Shuffle is shared. A new take from Shuffle applies to every style, so other styles can look a little different after you shuffle.
  • Behind needs a person on your cover. Without one, its card is greyed out.
  • Some fonts can't draw every language. A font that can't set your lyrics is greyed out, and the style uses one that can.
  • Changing style is free and saves itself. Changing the style does not spend credits. Syncing and downloads have their own prices.

If something goes wrong

  • A card says 'Needs a photo of a person on the cover'. That style is built around a cut-out of the person on your cover.
  • 'The style stills couldn’t be made (…). The live preview still works.' The pictures on the cards didn't render, but every style still plays in the preview. Pick one to see it.
  • On a computer, the line above the preview says 'Getting Marker ready…' for a while (with the style you picked). The style is loading. On a slow connection or an older phone it can take a few seconds.
  • 'Playing without sound.' (on a phone, 'Tap for sound') Your browser is waiting for a tap or click before it plays sound. See The preview is playing without sound
