Using Broadside in lyrik.fm

Every line screen-printed as a gig poster, the lyric filling the frame.

Pick Broadside on the Style step: every line of your song is screen-printed as a gig poster, with the lyric filling the frame edge to edge.

What it looks like

  • Spot inks pulled onto poster stock. Rows of heavy capitals are fitted edge to edge, like wood type.
  • A flat 3D offset in a second ink, and dry-brush bands across the poster.
  • Your cover, printed in. It appears as a high-contrast print or halftone, a side panel or a film strip.
  • Words cut in as you sing them.
  • Choruses swap to dark and bold-colour grounds, and repeated chorus lines turn into wallpaper behind the poster.
  • A brushed strike-through on the first 'no' or 'never' of a section.

Best for

  • Rock, indie, punk, pop, conscious rap and afro-fusion anthems.
  • Mid to high energy, roughly 80 to 185 BPM.
  • Big, repeated choruses and drops.
  • Any cover. Colourful covers give it the richest inks.

How to make it

  1. On the Style step ('Pick a style.'), find Broadside. On a phone, tap the Style tab first.
  2. Tap or click the card to see your clip (your first chorus, to start with) as posters.
  3. Choose a Font, a colour under Colour · from your cover, and a Lyric size.
  4. Open More ways to tweak it (the More tab on a phone) for the paper, Print, 3D depth and Energy.
  5. Press Shuffle for new inks and posters. Undo goes back.
  6. Check both shapes, then press Download · from £4.99$5.99€5.99CA$8.99A$8.99.

Font availability depends on your lyrics. Colour choices can depend on the cover, and the Ad-libs row needs marked ad-libs.

Broadside sets every word in capitals, like a screen-printed poster, and lays out each poster for its words. The panel says 'Broadside chooses the capitals and where the lyrics sit for you.'

Tips for great results

  • Write out your choruses. Repeated chorus lines become the wallpaper, so a song with its repeats written out looks fullest. See How do I mark choruses, verses and repeats?
  • Try Huge for a hook-heavy song. A few words a poster makes every hook land.
  • Turn 3D depth off for a flatter, cleaner print.
  • Try Carnaval or Riso if your cover's own colours are quiet.

16:9 and 9:16

  • 16:9 fits each line across the poster, often with your cover as a side panel or film strip.
  • 9:16 splits long words over two rows and tilts the posters less. Once the hero word is sung, it often echoes huge in a softer ink at the top or bottom. The film strip sits above the lyrics, and the lyrics stay in the area TikTok, Reels and Shorts leave clear.

Languages

  • Broadside is the one style that can borrow letters word by word. If only a few words in your song (up to about 1 in 20) need letters the font lacks, just those words use a matching font.
  • If more words need it, the whole song moves to a matching font that has the hooked Hausa letters and other marks.
  • With a mouse, a chip's tip may say, for example, 'Gothic: a few words are set in a matching fallback face'.

Good to know

  • Colour, size, ad-libs and energy carry across if you switch style. Broadside remembers its own font, paper, Print and 3D depth.
  • Shuffle gives every style a new take, not just Broadside.
  • Previewing is free. Your first eligible clip is free too; other downloads use credits.

If something goes wrong

  • A font chip is greyed out. Tap it to see the letters it lacks, then pick another.
  • Your cover gets in the way. Set Print to Lyrics only.

Hidden extras

  • Tap a chosen colour chip again (not Our pick or a ready-made set) to swap the inks round. Two-ink steps through other ink pairs from your cover too.
  • On a computer, press S for new posters and F to switch shape.
