What does Shuffle do, and what’s the Take number?
Shuffle gives a fresh variation of the style and keeps everything you picked yourself.
Shuffle gives you a fresh take on the style you're on, with new layouts, crops, inks or camera moves depending on the style, and it keeps every choice you made yourself.
Step by step
- Open More ways to tweak it (on a phone, the More tab). The first row is A new take.
- Tap Shuffle. The preview changes at once.
- Don't like it? Tap Undo to go back to the take you had before. You can step back through your last 10 takes.
- On a computer, press S to shuffle without opening More.
What Shuffle changes in each style
The line under the buttons says what changes, then 'Anything you’ve picked yourself stays.'

The Take number
- Under the row you'll see something like 'Take 48213'. Every take has its own number.
- With a mouse, the tip says 'This take’s number. Shuffle again or Undo to move between takes.'
- No number means you're on your song's own take, the one we worked out from your song, its tempo and its colours.
- You can't type a number in. To get back to a take, use Undo.
Good to know
- Your own choices stay. Font, colour, size and anything else you picked stay as they are. Where a row is still on Our pick, Shuffle may change it.
- The take is shared by every style. Shuffling in one style changes how the other styles look when you switch to them. If you liked another style's look, Undo brings the old take back.
- Undo only undoes Shuffle. It doesn't undo a font, colour or other change. See How do I undo my changes or reset a style?
- Your take is saved and used for your download.
- Shuffling is free. Try as many takes as you like.
If something goes wrong
- Undo is greyed out. There's no earlier take to go back to.
- Another style looks different from before. You shuffled, and the take is shared by every style. Tap Undo until it's back.
Hidden extras
- S shuffles from anywhere in the studio on a computer, except while you're typing.
- Shuffle is a quick way to see a style's range before you settle. See What’s the quickest way to compare styles?
