How do I set the song title and artist name?
The title is filled in from your file name; check it, because it can’t be changed later.
lyrik fills in the song title from your file name, and you can add the artist name beside it: check both carefully, because neither can be changed after you upload.
How to set them
- Choose your track, then answer 'What are you making?'.
- lyrik asks 'Nice. What’s the song called?'
- Check the Song title field. It is filled in from your file name.
- Type your name in Artist name (optional).
- Tap the arrow (Next), or press Enter.
Want to change them before you upload? Tap Change on your answer.
How the title is filled in
lyrik takes your file name, drops the extension (like .wav) and turns dashes and underscores into spaces. So a file called paper_boats-final-v3.wav becomes 'paper boats final v3'. Tidy it to the title you want people to see, for example 'Paper Boats'.
Where they appear
- In your emails from lyrik.
- In Your videos, so you can find the song again.
- On screen in some styles, for example the Now Playing style.
- In the YouTube copy pack, as the video title: 'Artist: Title (Lyric Video)'.
- As the chat name in the Texts style, if you leave its 'Who’s texting' field empty.
That is why adding your artist name is worth it, even though it is optional.
Good to know
- Each field takes up to 120 characters.
- The title and artist name can’t be edited after upload. To change them, start a new video with the same audio file. If it’s the very same file, syncing it again can be free. See Starting another project with the same audio
If something goes wrong
- 'Add the song title.' The title was empty when you uploaded. Go back, fill it in and try again.
- There’s a typo in my title after uploading. Start a new video with the same file and type it correctly. Do this before you buy a download, because downloads belong to the project.
