My upload failed or keeps stopping
Why uploads fail and how to get a big file through.
Uploads can't pick up where they left off yet, so a dropped connection means starting again: use Wi-Fi, keep the page open and the screen on, and keep your file under 100 MB.
How the upload works
- Nothing uploads while you answer the questions.
- Sign in and choose your track. Paste or auto-detect your lyrics. Press Sync my lyrics or Auto-detect lyrics to start the upload. The button shows 'Uploading 42%', then 'Starting…'.
- Larger files may upload in parts. Keep the page open until the upload has finished; reloading starts a new upload.
- If the connection drops before it finishes, the upload stops and you start again.
Getting a big file through
- Connect to Wi-Fi, not mobile data, if you can.
- Keep lyrik open on screen until the button says 'Starting…'. Don't switch apps.
- Stop your phone from locking: keep tapping the screen now and then, or turn auto-lock off for a few minutes.
- If your file is over 100 MB, export it again as FLAC (lossless and smaller) or as a 16-bit WAV. Use MP3 only if those are still too big, because your video's sound can only be as good as your upload.
Before you try again
If the upload fails, your answers may be lost, especially if the page reloads. Copy your lyrics into a notes app first, so you can paste them again. See I lost my answers before the upload. Why?
If something goes wrong
- 'The upload connection was interrupted. Please try again.' Your connection dropped. Move to Wi-Fi and press the button again.
- 'Upload failed (500)' (or another number). Something failed on our side. Wait a minute and try again. If it keeps happening, contact us.
- 'Could not read the upload.' The file arrived damaged. Try again on a steadier connection.
- 'That file is over 100 MB.' Export a FLAC or a 16-bit WAV first. They keep the full sound.
- 'Tracks can be up to 8 minutes long.' Longer tracks aren't accepted yet. Upload an edit of 8 minutes or less.
- 'Use an MP3, WAV, FLAC or M4A file.' Videos and voice notes (.mp4, .mov, .opus) aren't accepted. Export the audio from your music software first.
- 'Please complete the check that you’re not a robot, then try again.' Wait for the robot check to finish, then press the button. See The ‘Sync my lyrics’ button won’t press
- 'You’ve started the maximum number of songs today. Try again tomorrow.' See Why can’t I start another video today?

Good to know
- Some checks only happen after the upload: the file type, a cover over 20 MB, and lyrics over 20,000 characters. Check these before you press the button, especially on a slow connection.
- If you drop several files at once, only the first one is used.
