How does ‘Check 3 lines’ work?

We play each unsure line and you say whether it sounds right, early or late.

lyrik plays each amber line for you in turn, and you tell it whether the words appear at the right moment.

The button shows the number of lines to check, for example Check 3 lines, or Check it when there's just one.

How to check your lines

  1. Press Check 3 lines at the top of the Sync screen.
  2. A card opens: 'Line 1 of 3', the line itself, and why lyrik wasn't sure, for example 'We weren’t sure: the vocal is hard to hear here.'
  3. The line plays from 1 second before it starts. Watch the words as you listen.
  4. Pick an answer:
    • Sounds right: the words appear as you sing them. The line turns green and the next one plays.
    • Too early: the words show before they're sung. This moves the line 50 milliseconds later.
    • Too late: the words show after they're sung. This moves the line 50 milliseconds earlier.
    • Fix the words: a word is spelt wrong. Type the change, then press Enter to save or Esc to cancel.
  5. After Too early or Too late, press Play it again to hear the change. Repeat until it sounds right, then press Sounds right.
  6. Use Back to return to the line before, or Stop checking to close the card.

When you've done them all, the card says 'All 3 checked' and 'That’s every unsure line.' Then: 'Your fixes are saved. Play anything else from the list, or carry on with Looks right below.' Press Looks right at the bottom of the screen to move on to the styles.

Good to know

  • Each nudge is small. Too early and Too late move the line 50 milliseconds, a twentieth of a second. A line that's half a second out needs about 10 taps.
  • A line that's well out is quicker with Tap along. Close the card with Stop checking, open More tools and choose Tap along. See How do I tap along to sync my lyrics?
  • Which way is which? Think about the words, not your voice. If the words pop up before you sing them, press Too early.
  • The whole line moves. The words inside it keep their spacing. To move a single word, see How do I move a single word?
  • Fixing words with a different number of words spreads the line's timing out again by word length. Listen afterwards and nudge if needed.
  • Your fixes save as you go, and checking is free.

If something goes wrong

Hidden extras

  • When you finish, Go through them again plays the same lines from the start, so you can check your fixes.
  • Close hides the card but keeps your fixes.
