What hidden features should I know about?
Small things that save time or make your video better, in one list.
Here are the small tricks that aren’t obvious on screen, each with a link to the full article.
Before you upload
- Mark repeats so they’re synced. 'x2' at the end of a line, '(repeat)' under a stanza, or an empty '[Chorus]' to sing the chorus again. See How do I mark choruses, verses and repeats?
- Round brackets make ad-libs. '(yeah)' becomes its own small line, and you can hide ad-libs later. See How do I mark ad-libs and backing vocals, and can I hide them?
- Name the singer for a duet. Write '[Verse 2: Name]' and styles give that voice its own side or colour. See How do I show a duet or a featured singer?
- More file types work than the list shows. AAC and AIFF audio are accepted, and WebP covers too. See Which audio files can I upload, and how long can they be?
- There’s a template. Copy it, swap in your words. See Is there a lyrics template I can copy?
While it syncs
- Hear your vocal on its own. As soon as we’ve found it, the analysis screen lets you play your isolated vocal. See What happens while my track is being analysed?
- Waltzes and other time signatures are spotted for you. We find the beats per bar, so camera moves, chorus hits and your clip line up with your bars. There’s nothing to set.
On the Sync screen
- Tap along learns your timing. It works out how late you tap and allows for it. See How do I tap along to sync my lyrics?
- Long-press a word to make it the big word. With More tools open, select a line, then long-press (or right-click) a word. See How do I choose which word stands out on each line?
In the studio
- Tap a colour chip again to swap the colours round. It works on Light, Dark, Main colour, Bold colour, Pop, Muted and Two-ink. See How do I change the colours?
- One take for every style. Shuffle’s take is shared, so shuffling one style changes the take on the others too. See What does Shuffle do, and what’s the Take number?
- The style cards follow your clip. Once you’ve moved your clip, every card shows its first sung line. See What’s the quickest way to compare styles?
- Present mode. On a computer, Present fills the screen with your preview, and the keys still work.
- Press ? for the keys. See What keyboard shortcuts can I use?
Your clip
- 'Jump to' any part. Move your clip to 'Chorus 2', 'Bridge' or a drop in one tap. See How do I choose which part of my song becomes the clip?
- Watch the whole song on a phone. Open the Clip tab and tap the timeline outside the clip. Tap the clip’s name to loop it again. See How do I watch the whole song instead of just the clip?
Across your songs
- Reuse the same file. An exact match can qualify for a free sync while the same account has a ready, undeleted project and an eligible earlier sync. See Starting another project with the same audio
- Switching songs keeps your look on screen. Open another song from Your videos and it shows the same style and format. See Where are my videos, and how do I get back to a project?
